Landscape in the Mist

Its as if you don't care about time passing. And yet I know that you are in a hurry to leave. Its as if you're going nowhere, and yet you're going somewhere. -Theo Angelopoulos's Landscape in the Mist

A series of composites, each image shot separately on film, scanned and overlayed in Photoshop. Each is made up of a "view" and an "abstract".

Polaroids- The Journey

A series of polaroids with no ulterior motive.

Family Composites

The older distinction between fiction and history, in which fiction is conceived as the representation the imaginable and history as the representation of the actual, must give place to the recognition that we can only know the actual by contrasting it with or likening it to the imaginable. –Hayden White

A series of old family photos of myself overlayed with recent shots of vegetation at the same location.

Upsidedown Lampshades

Our direct experience is necessarily subjective, necessarily relative to our own position or place in the midst of things, to our particular desires, tastes, and concerns.–Spell of the Sensuous

A series of polaroids of lampshades of the home presented upside down, taken as an attempt to say nothing. Shooting a simple subject for no reason, trying to get as little in the frame as possible in case of accidental meaning creation. However on turning resulting images upside down meaning was found to be there all along.

Home

Everybody experiences far more than he understands. Yet it is experience, rather than understanding, that influences behavior.Marshall McLuhan

A series of polaroids taken of random things around the home. Then lifted onto watercolour paper.

Double Exposure Polaroids

Found

A milk bottle, found in woods when not thinking or practicing photography. Vegetation was growing inside. Found object sums up everything I have been trying to say photographically.
